The Dierperink Writing Prize was established to encourage and reward original writing about psychoanalysis within our community. One of the founders of MPSI, Dr. Willem Dieperink was Minnesota's first certified psychoanalyst. Originally from the Netherlands, he trained as a Psychiatrist at the University of Minnesota, and then practiced in St Paul for nearly 40 years. He taught at the Minnesota Psychoanalytic Institute until shortly before his death in 2009.
